You heard right , they  are suppose to get tips but the tips that is paid by credit card is taken by Owner. Only cash tips are their tips.

That is how they make money and that is the real stroy woking in Inidan or Nepali restaurants.

 i have worked in restaurent for sometime.. we waiters have made our own rules. we section our tables.. what i make from the table i am waiting on is 85% mine.. we give 10% to our back-waiter (bussboy/girl)..2.5% to our bartender..2.5% to food-runner.. n yes. $2.50.. is our hourly based salary..

if you think and know that the owner or the manager of the restaurent are keeping the tips.. you can call labor force department. you can be anonymous..
